Hyatt Area Information Technology Manager – Japan and Micronesia in TOKYO, Japan
Position Summary As Area Information Technology Manager – Japan and Micronesia, this position will report to Regional Director of Information Technology. The Area Information Technology Manager – Japan and Micronesia oversees hotel technical support team in hotel’s within their Area, as well as provided to hotel guests, associates and management for more than one hotel. This role provides leadership regarding the installation, maintenance and reliability of hotel IT hardware and software. The Area Information Technology Manager defines processes, procedures and protocols to ensure the security, structure and integrity of hotel networks and systems. This role is also responsible for ensuring the optimal installation and performance of each hotel’s networks and systems. The incumbent will work closely with hotel IT staff in Area to ensure that IT initiatives of the hotels he/she supports comply with Hyatt’s standards and technology direction. This role serves IT customers throughout its defined group of hotels and Area, including hotel management, Hyatt colleagues and guests. This role also develops and maintains relationships with Corporate IT resources and IT vendors to improve information flow, share resources and maximize the effectiveness of hotel IT colleagues with the Area. Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities of the Area Information Technology Manager – Japan and Micronesia will include: * Provide leadership and direction for hotel IT colleagues regarding all aspects of technical support, including but not limited to access to Hyatt information systems, help desk assistance, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. * Oversee the development of IT policies and procedures and ensure compliance with Hyatt information technology standards, processes, procedure and protocols within the Area or within the group of hotels supported as well as verify that proper security measures are in place to ensure the integrity of hotel networks and systems. * Manage IT service levels and issues against predefined performance criteria by identifying overall trends, potential risks/barriers and opportunities to improve service delivery throughout the Area. * Manage with hotel operations to review key guest satisfaction feedback methods to ensure that the hotel guest technology is performing effectively and make improvement as applicable. * Develop and maintain relationships with IT vendors to ensure fulfillment of contract terms, including commercial terms and service level agreements. * Ensure that backups are maintained for all supported systems within each hotel and provide resources to resolve any system disruptions or data loss, collaborating with Corporate, vendor and/or other hotel IT colleagues to minimize further system disruptions. * Oversees the successful implementation and maintenance of each hotel’s network infrastructure and develop standards in accordance with Corporate IT and Engineering to optimize efficiency and performance of network hardware and infrastructure. * Lead the installation and implementation Hyatt’s systems and hardware into each hotel’s production environment as well as collaborate with Corporate and vendor IT resources to ensure smooth implementation of new or updated systems. * Ensure that hotel(s) within area of responsibility have a complete, functional and tested disaster recovery and business continuity plan. * Lead the annual IT capital and operating budget process as well as research and help negotiate more cost-effective solutions. * Develop an overall plan for on-site IT training for end-users for hotels within area of responsibility and ensure they are provided with continuous learning and development opportunities. * Assist with hotel openings and closings in the Area of responsibility. * Perform IT Management Operations Review (MOR) for hotels in Area and develop action plans to remediate any findings. * Oversees the recruitment and selection of all IT colleagues in Area. * Perform or have input into the annual performance evaluations of all IT colleagues in Area and to provide leadership in the mentoring and development for these colleagues. * Assists hotels in Area in project management of technology deployment and as required, to assist in the implementation of pilot technology projects in the Area. * Act as key point of contact for corporate escalation to/from hotels in Area.
Experience and Education * 8 or more years in technology management experience * Hotel IT experience required * Experience in dealing with multiple and diverse stakeholders, including hotel colleagues, guests, management and owners as well as managing vendor relationships * B.A. /B.S. degree in Computer Science or Management/Business preferred * Able to provide technological and managerial leadership to the hotel(s) * Able to communicate effectively to all levels of management/colleagues within the organization * Able to balance and report multiple priorities to multiple reporting sources * Able to mentor and foster development of personnel and teamwork
Additional Information * Fluent in English and Japanese language. * Able to adapt a challenging, fast-paced environment with a focus on quality, efficiency and meeting IT customer needs. * Have excellent information technology and project management skills, self-starter, and effective in leading team members to achieve desired results in a collaborative work environment. * Possess excellent communication skills and able to clearly present technical subject matters to non-technical management. * Requires availability in person and/or via mobile/remote access, during varied hours of hotel operation in order to provide IT access and support to Corporate and Hotel IT colleagues.
